Helping a Student

Outreach

Lighthouse Outreach is an outreach service supporting children and young people with social emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. This is a place where we aim to make a difference in the lives of young individuals by providing them with the necessary support and guidance to overcome their challenges and thrive in life.

Outreach

The Outreach Team is a group of experts in behaviour who offer support in regular schools for children and young people with social, emotional, and behavioural requirements. We assist our stakeholder schools in encouraging the positive behaviour of children and young people. We collaborate with educational institutions in the Luton, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hertfordshire regions. We offer 1:1, group or whole class support for children with emotional and behavioural needs, as well as assistance for school staff. Our goal is to minimise the necessity of permanent expulsions from regular schools and foster constructive, transparent connections with our collaborating schools.

As a company, we understand that the requirements of each child in schools vary greatly, so we provide a wide variety of adaptable services. As the needs of children and schools evolve, our intervention services can also adapt.

When we receive a learner referral, different options may be presented. Every intervention is tailor-made for the student and might consist of:

  • 6-week programme for managing anger

  • A programme focusing on individual behaviour incorporating mindfulness over a 10-week period

  • 6 or12 week satellite behaviour hub programme

  • Group work; social circles, friendship groups, body language & communication

  • Programme to help students transition between different stages of school (KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5)

  • Staff training, (e.g. EBSA/EBSNA, emotional regulation, CBT Therapies, mindfulness etc.)

  • Circle of friends/peer support

  • Solution circle; focused on finding solutions

  • Assistance with reintegration, managed move or panel

  • Whole class programmes

  • Interventions implemented at home to help students transition back to school.

  • Packages that focus on a specific area intensively.

  • Sign posting/working with other agencies

  • Workshops on mindfulness offered for parents or caregivers or school staff

  • Casual drop-in sessions

  • Observation, advice and recommendations for school staff

  • Support for school staff through regular communication, planning and discussion

  • Kids in Year 2 and older can participate in Lego groups.

  • Emotionally Based School Avoidance Support

  • Respite for parents or guardians for young people over 18

This list is not comprehensive, and we are always enhancing our collaborations with schools and professional partners

What are we able to provide

What Students Say

“I enjoyed the mindfulness puppy training and finding a steady place. I also enjoyed learning about the parts of the brain that beeps when you're in danger.”
